Frequently Asked

thoroughly answered

What if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding? Can I get Brow Lamination, Henna, Waxing, or Lash Lifting & Tinting?

If you are pregnant, it is not recommended to get Brow Lamination, Henna or Tinting. However you may get Brow Waxing, and Lash Lift & Tint can be performed. If you are breastfeeding, it is acceptable although not recommended to get all of these services as long as you understand that if you experience a reaction, you would need to avoid breastfeeding until it subsides.

What If I’m on accutane? Can I get Brow Lamination, Henna, Waxing, or Lash Lifting & Tinting?

Only Brow Tinting & Tweezing (no waxing), and Lash Lifting & Tinting is suitable for those on Accutane currently or within the last 6 months.

What if I regularly use Retinol, Tretinoin, Glycolic Acid, AHA - can I get Brow Lamination, Henna, Waxing, or Lash Lifting & Tinting?

Regular use of these products make the skin sensitive. Lash Lifting is not an issue, as the products do not touch the skin, only the hairs. However the brow treatments listed are not recommended unless you stop the use of products on or near your brows at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

How do I know if I should schedule a patch test? What is it?

Patch tests can help determine if you have an allergy to the products used by only applying a small amount of each to your skin, and seeing how you react over the next 48 hours. However, if you don’t experience a reaction, that does not absolutely rule out the possibility of reacting to the full service. If you’ve had reactions in the past, a patch test is recommended, although it may simply not be the service for you.

How long does tinting last for eyebrows or eyelashes?

Tinting lasts on the brow hairs for 4-6 weeks, and on the skin for up to a few days. Lashes will hold the tint for 4-6 weeks as well.

What if I have a negative reaction to Brow Lamination, Henna, Waxing, or Lash Lifting & Tinting?

Seek medical care immediately, and inform your artist of your reaction with photos when you can. Calling the Alberta Health Line, 811 can get you heading in the right direction.  Allergic or sensitivity induced reactions are rare, but they do happen. It is unforeseeable and unfortunate, but a risk every client must acknowledge in the consent form before the services are provided.

What are the possible risks to Brow Lamination, Henna, Waxing, or Lash Lifting & Tinting?

Possible risks include:

    • Tingling, stinging, or burning sensations during any of the services
    • Over-exfoliated skin due to waxing (sensitive skin from retinol, or other conditions), where the skin has a shiny raw appearance. This heals over 1-2 weeks.
    • Allergic reactions which could appear as brows that are red, swollen, or even white fluid leaking. Or in the case of the eye, red, watery, stinging eyes.
