Descriptions, instructions, and answers for your best laser treatment experience.
Laser Brow Treatment
The Picosecond Laser effectively blasts pigment into smaller particles so that the body’s lymphatic system can remove it. The effectiveness of this laser lies in the reduced time it pulses in the skin – a “picosecond” as opposed to older technology “nanosecond”. Modern lasers cause less trauma, and you can look forward to an easy healing process.
Pre-Care & Contraindications
Botox & Filler
No Botox or Filler on/near your brows 2 weeks before & after your appointment date.
Skincare, Facials & Procedures
Avoid regenerative facials including microneedling, chemical peels, laser facials etc. 4 weeks before and 2 weeks after your appointment.
Discontinue use of Retinol, chemical exfoliants like AHA, Glycolic Acid, or BHA on or near your brows 2 weeks before and 1 week after your appointment. These products cause your skin to be more sensitive which is not ideal while undergoing laser.
You can still use these products on your face, but I would recommend only applying from your eyes down leading up to and after your appointment.
Spray Tan
No spray tans/ self tanner/ tanning drops on the face (professional or at home) 1 week before and after the appointment.
Skin Conditions Around the Brows
Your brows and the surrounding skin need to be in a healthy condition for the service. Having any of the following are contraindications for the service: open & active acne (on or very near the brows), cuts, irritation, inflammation, sunburn, psoriasis, eczema, shingles, rosacea, any kind or rash, alopecia.
If you experience any of the above after you have booked your appointment, and your skin needs time to heal, please contact your artist to reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment to avoid forfeiting your deposit.

Must not be undergoing chemo or cancer treatments – without doctors note.
Must have no brow peircings in for the treatment.
No surgical pins in the area.
No recent brow or eye surgery.
Pregnant/ Breastfeeding
You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding while undergoing laser pigment removal.
AFTER-CARE
The first 6-12 hours
If they are swollen or tender, you may apply ice packs with a cloth barrier. After 6-12 hours use a mild, gentle soap to cleanse them. If they feel tight or dry, apply a very thin layer of the healing ointment provided. Swelling and redness are to be expected, however it will not last longer than 12 hours.
Avoid Sun Exposure
Avoid tanning, sunbathing or long periods of sun/UV exposure to the treatment area for at least 30 days after the procedure. Wear a hat, and/or apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 30+.
Avoid Working out, Swimming, Sauna, Steam Room
Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours after the procedure to reduce the risk of bleeding or bruising.
Avoid hot steamy showers, baths, swimming, sauna, for the first 48 hours as well.
Do not use Retinol, exfoliating acids, or wax/ other brow treatments
Do not use any Retinol or exfoliator on or very near your brows for 7 days. Using a soltuion like Retinol, AHA or BHA, Glycolic Acid or a physical exfoliant will irritate the sensitive skin.
Do not wax your brows for 2 weeks. Do not get any brow treatment like tinting, lamination, or Henna for at least 2 weeks.
Cleansing, Skin care & Makeup
Very gently cleanse your brows once a day for 7 days, apply the ointment if desired, or a gentle moisturizer of your own may be sufficient depending on how your skin reacts.
Any mild soap or cleanser is fine, as long as there is no active acid or exfoliant.
You may apply makeup on your brows after 24 hours. Do your best to wait, so as to not irritate the skin or risk infection.
Be sure to avoid products that contain acids on your brows for 1 week.
Avoid Smoking & Alcohol
Smoking can negatively affect the healing process and potentially slow down the removal process. High consumption of alcohol puts additional strain on your body which is working hard to eliminate and heal from the laser process.
Avoid picking, scratching, rubbing
Avoid picking or scratching at the treated area, as this can lead to infection or scarring.
Expected Results
Laser Brow Removal results in an immediate shift, however they change as they heal.
RED/ Salmon BROWS
Brows that fade to these warm colours are generally “Iron Oxide Pigments” and can sometimes be corrected by shading the area with opposite tone pigments to achieve brown.
However if the saturation is too high, the shape is poor, or your desired result is a more natural looking brow – removal is the best option.
“Laser Toning” may also be an option, where only partial removal is needed to shift the brows to a cooler tone. This is case dependent and may not be suitable for everyone, nor can a specific result be guaranteed. If the ideal tone is not achieved, the client would continue with full removal.
Laser Removal Process
1st session: We will target the red colour with the 532nm wavelength. The brows will turn dark, grey, or black.
2nd session: We will target the dark colour with the 1064nm wavelength. The brows will turn back to red, a lighter grey/dark colour, or potentially to our end point of yellow.
3rd session: Depending on the previous work done on your brows, there may be parts where the artist went quite deep and those areas may still be holding pigment. Whichever colours are present, we will target.
“The End Point” for laser removal is yellow – this colour is difficult if even possible for lasers to remove.
Desired Result: Natural Brows
Once only yellow is left over, the protocol is as follows depending on the desired end result:
You want to go back to your natural brows (not get new permanent makeup).
or
You want new, natural looking permanent makeup (nano).
We begin sessions of microneedling to manually remove the yellow pigment with 4 weeks between appointments. 1-5 sessions is expected.
*If you’d like to try to re-grow your natural brows, microneedling with a particular enriching serum can be effective to encourage your natural brow hairs to grow back. This treatment can begin once the yellow is gone.
Or, after sufficient removal of the yellow, hairstrokes (nano) can be done if you decide to get new permanent makeup. This can also be done after trying to re-grow you natural brows, but not before.
Desired Result: Ombre Brows
Once only yellow is left over, the protocol is as follows depending on the desired end result:
Ombre Brow Coverup/ Correction
Ombre Brows can cover and correct the leftover yellow, and yield great healed results. Any yellow left outside of the new shape will continue to fade with time – usually gone in 2 years. Keep in mind, if the previous shape is very “off” compared to the new desired shape, manual removal with microneedling may be best to reduce the boldness of the remaining yellow.
***We cannot do hairstrokes (nano) over yellow brows. The yellow is too apparent and will distort the colour of the brows in an undesirable way.
Black/ Blue/ Grey Brows
Brows that fade to these cool colours are generally “Carbon Based Pigments” and can sometimes be corrected by shading the area with opposite tone pigments to achieve brown.
However if the saturation is too high, the shape is poor, or your desired result is a more natural looking brow – removal is the best option.
“Laser Toning” may also be an option, where only partial removal is needed to shift the brows to a warmer tone. This is case dependent and may not be suitable for everyone, nor can a specific result be guaranteed. If the ideal tone is not achieved, the client would continue with full removal.
Removal Process
1st session: We will target the dark colour with the 1064nm wavelength. The brows will turn a warm red with healing.
2nd session: We will target the red colour with the 532nm wavelength. The brows may turn back to grey or remain red with more yellow showing through. Ideally, they turn completely to our end point of yellow.
3rd session: Depending on the previous work done on your brows, there may be parts where the artist went quite deep and those areas may still be holding pigment. Whichever colours are present, we will target and ideally achieve yellow.
“The End Point” for laser removal is yellow – this colour is difficult if even possible for lasers to remove. Furthur removal is via manual methods only or natural fading over the next few years.

Purple/ Grey Brows
Brows that fade to these colours are generally a mixture of different pigments. Rarely can these be corrected with additional permanent makeup, and full removal is generally needed.
Often when both red/grey pigments are mixed together like this it is due to haveing had multiple sessions of permanent makeup over the years. Therefore multiple different pigments have likley been used, which are less predictable under laser treatments.
The more treatments done, the deeper the pigment is in the skin, resulting in a higher chance that more than 3 sessions will be required before we reach our end point.
Removal Process
1st session: We will target the dark colour with the 1064nm wavelength, and the warmth with 532nm. Your brows will likely lighten some, but not a huge difference will be seen from the first session.
2nd session: We will target the red colour with the 532nm wavelength first, them with 1064nm. The brows will likely turn grey, with some red potentailly showing through still.
3rd session: Depending on the previous work done on your brows, there may be parts where the artist went quite deep and those areas may still be holding pigment. Whichever colours are present, we will target and ideally achieve yellow.
This kind of brow is more likely to require a fourth session compared to the other kind of start points.
